Vision is such a precious gift and Ethiopia has one of the highest incidences of blindness in the world. Trachoma is an infectious eye disease that is also extremely porevelant in our project area and is alos a great source of blindness. Since 2011 Hopethiopia has been providing free eye care through the incredible work of Ethiopian cataract surgeon  Dr. Asrat. 

Over 1,500 people have receved free cataract surgeries, many hundred's of individuals have had trachoma surgeries. A great number of people have received free prescription glasses, and many thousands have been treated for a vairety of eye conditions.

A pilot eye care program is being conducted in Addis Ababa particularly to the Leprosy affected population living in and around the Koshe garbage dump
